The son of a British diplomat, Titus Foster spent much of his early years in various countries of the world. Born in Vienna, he was educated in Poland, South Africa, and England.
In 1976, he met Swami Prakashananda near Bombay, India. Titus lived in his close company for eight years as a chela (disciple). Titus' years with Prakashananda radically changed his outlook and understanding. Under Swamiji's guidance he underwent a profound spiritual transformation and was extraordinarily fortunate to be treated as his spiritual son.
Titus immersed himself in Indian culture and spirituality and learned to speak Hindi. Most of all, he was privileged to share and participate in the unique atmosphere and viewpoint of a self-realized being. Profoundly affected by his contact with Swamiji, Titus noted down various incidents, anecdotes, and teachings, which later became this book.
Upon his return to England in 1987, Titus seriously considered a vocation as a Christian monk but destiny decided otherwise. He lives in Sussex, England with his wife and two children and practices acupuncture and complementary medicine.
